Understanding VSD (Virtual School Dollars)

Last updated: 12/1/2025

VSD, or Virtual School Dollar, is the virtual currency that powers every private economy on the MoneyWise platform. It is the medium of exchange for all transactions, rewards, and learning incentives.

Key Properties of VSD:

  • It's Not Real Money: VSD has no inherent cash value and cannot be traded on any external exchange. Its value is determined entirely by the rules and economy set up by the Partner (admin).
  • It's Safe and Controlled: All VSD transactions occur within a closed-loop system. This provides a safe environment for users, especially younger ones, to learn about money without risk.
  • It's a Tool for Learning: The primary purpose of VSD is to simulate a real-world economy. It helps teach concepts like earning, spending, saving, budgeting, and even supply and demand.
  • It's Redeemable (At the Partner's Discretion): A Partner can choose to allow users to "cash out" their VSD for real-world rewards, such as items from a school store, a real allowance, or gift cards. MoneyWise provides the tools for this (like Withdrawal Requests), but the Partner is responsible for fulfilling them.

Think of VSD as a powerful educational tool. It makes the abstract concept of money tangible and helps users directly connect their actions (like completing a chore) to a financial reward.
